This part-time free-standing course is aimed at teachers who want to become qualified for teaching English in preschool class and grades 1-3, in conjunction with courses given by the Department of Language Education.

Due to changes to the study plans for the teacher education programs for primary schools, the courses within those programs have been, or are being, revised. As a result, the freestanding courses offered as continuing professional development for teachers who want to become qualified for teaching English in primary schools also need to be revised. Students who wish to take the course ENSPF3 will be offered the opportunity to take the course together with students in the F-3 teacher program during autumn term 2019. The course is due to open for late application on 15 July.

Course description

The course has the following aims:
- to improve your oral and written proficiency in English, with particular emphasis on pronunciation and fluency in the classroom
- to introduce you to common learner difficulties in English and how to deal with them in the classroom
- to improve your ability to read and discuss your professional literature in English

The course consists of two course units:

English Grammar and Vocabulary, which will help you bring your written and spoken English up to an adequate professional standard.
Language proficiency and theory, which will work with major trouble spots in learning English, and help you read about and discuss educational matters in professional contexts in English. We will also work with tools to help your own future learning and teaching.
