This module will offer students space to write within creative non-fiction genres: biography, autobiography, memoir, travelogue, and essay. It builds upon the knowledge of craft the students acquired in Narrative Design module. Core questions are ethics, contract with the reader, the effects of craft-related issues on the notions of fact and truth, as well as the relationship between form and content.

The module also gives students an opportunity to develop their ability to write an independent academic essay within the field by focusing on critical discussions on theories about creative non-fiction. The theoretic knowledge is tested in part through some forms of field work, for instance the so-called "immersion writing" which entails that knowledge about and the production of creative non-fiction is based on current social issues.

This course is only open to students within the MA programme English, with a specialisation in Transnational Creative Writing.
