Do you think you know how to read?
Why study English Literature?
Most of us may think we do but to study literature is to begin a journey into reading as something more than the consumption of texts. Studying literature means engaging in an active dialogue with literary worlds and will provide you with the tools to analyze the complexity of cultural world(s).
At the Department of English we offer an MA programme in English literature as well as a wide array of MA courses covering classic understandings of literature in the shape of Poetry, Realism, Modernism, and Postmodernism, as well as literatures that challenge boundaries between real and fictional worlds, nations, and species. Read more about our MA programme and our individual MA courses, and find out from our own MA students what it is like to study English literature with us.
We also offer some part-time courses at undergraduate level, such as Famous Works of Literature Written in English and Introduction to Literary Theory and Method, as well as an undergraduate course in Creative Writing.
