This course covers different modes of understanding and interpreting contemporary cultural phenomena, in particular media and popular culture in the English-speaking world. It offers a survey of the most influential theories of the 20th century and their practical application to different types of "text", such as films, TV, novels etc. The course requirements include both written and oral presentations as well as class discussions. In discussions and in writing, you will describe various cultural phenomena from a Cultural Studies perspective.

This course does not fulfill the requirements for admission to higher levels.

Special eligibility critera: English B / 6 or equivalent + 60 university credits (HEC) in an academic subject.
